Policies and Procedures
Making sure you stay at the end or your rope.
Rock climbing and rappelling, like many activities,
can be dangerous if done improperly or out of ignorance. However
when approached with professional instruction and thoughtfulness,
the danger is significantly diminished. With this in mind, the following
guidelines will be heeded by staff and clients without exception.

All participants will wear a helmet.
- Becknology climbing instructors have the right to end an activity
if they judge the situation to be unsafe due to unruly behavior,
weather, etc.
- All participants will go through a basic training session including
the following topics: proper belay technique, basic ropework, proper
use of a harness, basic climbing technique.
- Rappellers will have a backup, i.e. fireman's belay, top belay,
etc.
- Novice belayers will be backed up by a second person.
- Participants will climb in a top rope, single pitch setting only.
(Only students in advanced courses may lead climb.)
